2012 (Senior)

Martinez raced to three top 10 finishes in his final campaign for the Pirates including one first place finish. The senior captured the title at the Concordia/Southwestern Dual Meet with a time of 21:40.7 in the 4 mile race earning SCAC Runner of the Week honors. Martinez also earned a pair of 10th place finishes at the Concordia Invitational where he again was named SCAC Runner of the Week and also at the SCAC Championships. Although his best 8k time came in the Incarnate Word Invitational earning a time of 28:09.3.

2011 (Junior)

Martinez had another great year for the Pirates. He started off the season with a fifth place finish at the DIII Cross Country Championships with a time of 26:57.35. He also finished in 13th at the Incarnate Word Invite running a 28:54.90. At the SCAC Championships, Sam was the first to cross the finish line for the Pirates in 27:30.35, placing 26th overall. Martinez was also named to the SCAC Academic Honor Roll.

2010 (Sophomore)

Martinez had a sensational sophomore campaign for the Pirates. He finished in ninth place at the SCAC Championships with a personal best time of 26:00.9, earning him a spot on the All-Conference team. Martinez was named as SCAC Runner-of-the-Week for the week of Oct. 11-17.

2009 (First-year)

Martinez placed 10th at the Texas DIII Championships with a time of 28:02.

High School

Martinez was a member of the Brahma cross country team.

Personal

Sam is the son of Carlos and Sarah and has one sibling, Gabe.  Sam is a history major with a minor in communication at SU.
